Description
Goodyear - Dunlop, the American producer of tyres and rubber products has announced to cut 820 out of 1,400 employees in Amiens, France. The cuts are part of a restructuring strategy to reduce high-cost manufacturing. Serge Lussier, Goodyear's vice president of manufacturing in Europe, Middle East and Africa explained that costs at the plant in Amiens were no longer competitive. The decision is opposed by the trade unions.
Updated, 21/07/2014: As reported, the Amiens plant was closed with a consequent loss of 1,173 jobs.
