Description

Euroveder, the brand name of Saint Gobain group which produces glass for the electrical household appliance sector, is to cut 143 jobs (out of 253 employees) at the plant located at S. Defendente in Cervasca, in the province of Cuneo. The trade unions reacted to the company's decision by going out on strike and demanding the involvement of the national and local authorities in order to avoid the lay-offs at the Euroveder plant. Euroveder is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, one of the top 100 industrial companies in the world with over 200,000 employees in 56 countries. Saint-Gobain is active in five main sectors: flat glass, high-performance materials, construction products, building distribution and packaging.
