Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Demag Cranes, a leading German producer and supplier of industrial cranes and port automation technology, announced plans to cut 750 jobs. Out of these 250 jobs shall be shed at Demag's subsidiary Gottwald, a manufacturer of port cranes located in Düsseldorf, and another 250 at subsidiary Demag Cranes & Components in Germany. There is no information on where the remaining 250 jobs shall be cut outside of Germany. No timeframe is given.
Negotiations with the works council have just begun.
