Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Celanese Chemicals has announced plans to cut 100 jobs from its Spondon plant in Derby. The cuts were deemed essential for maintaining the competitiveness of the business. The company has entered into a 90-day consultation period with the employees in order to decide on which posts will be affected. As of 17 May 2009 no date has been given for the implementation of the job losses.
