Telecommunication equipment company Iskratel located in Kranj in the Gorenjska region, is to dismiss 150 workers and has reduced wages by 10%. Sales have been decreasing for several years, i.e. from EUR 188 million in 2007, to EUR 130 million in 2008. This year, the company will face a further drastic 60% decrease of sales due to reduced orders from Slovenia and Ukraine. Iskratel, which currently employs 1,000 people, mainly produces switching systems for telephone networks.
Iskratel also has 350 employees in entities outside Slovenia of which 100 will be dismissed.
