Description
Clothing manufacturer Elkroj, based in Mozirje in the Savinjska region, is to cut 200 jobs. At the beginning of April 2009, bankruptcy procedures were launched at the local court and initially all 250 employees' jobs were threatened. The company, which produces mens and womens clothes, was still making a profit in 2008, but due to lower orders from its customers, the company had to reduce the production by two thirds at the beginning of 2009. The management says that they are simply not able to cope with the "cheap competition from the East".
