Description

Randstad, a Dutch temporary staffing company, is to cut 489 full-time jobs by closing 85 branches throughout France. The cuts are due to difficult market conditions, and are planned for mid-2009. They will primarily affect the head office and function support services, in particular marketing. The cuts represent about 10% of the company's workforce in France, and 1.5% of its global workforce. The company expects to make €25 million in annual savings as a result of the plan.

The branch closures are additional to 72 closures planned last year as a result of Randstad's takeover of Vedior.
