On 12 March 2009, the car radio manufacturer Harman Becker announced to cut 950 jobs across Germany. The job cuts are attributed to a loss in sales. In January 2009, sales declined by 33% or 35 million euro in comparison to the same month in the previous year. Harman Becker employs around 3,800 employees in Germany.
