Description
Alro, which produces parts and accessories for motor vehicles, is to cut 385 jobs at its plant in Dilsen-Stokkem, Flanders. The lay offs are a result of a decrease in production by DAF Trucks and Scania, two automobile companies to whom Alro supplies parts. To cope with this decrease in demand, Alro had at first introduced temporary lay offs for its employees. The management finally decided to cut 385 jobs, comprised of 350 blue-collar and 35 white-collar employees.
Alro is one of the main subcontractors of the automobile industry located in Belgium.
