Description
Conforama, a French home furnishings retailer, has announced it is to make 800 employees redundant at stores across France. Conforama is part of the retail-to-luxury company PPR SA. The redundancies are part of a cost cutting plan to save EUR 50 million by 2010. The group will develop a voluntary departures scheme over the next few months in order to minimise the social impact of its cost-saving measures.
In December 2008, the company had announced 430 job cuts in Italy, and was also planning to restructure its activity in Spain and Portugal.
