Description

Aibel, one of the largest Norwegian oil service companies that engineers, builds, maintains and  modifies oil and gas production facilities, announced on 27th of February 2009 that it is to reduce its workforce in Norway by 4% and reduce the number of hired personnel. Of the 7,000 employees worldwide, around half are located at several sites in Norway.

The company says in a press release that it is too early to tell how the different sites will be hit, and that the downsizing will be planned and implemented in cooperation with the unions. The reason stated is an expected reduction of demand for the company's services.
