Description

The environmental management and support services company Lassila & Tikanoja has concluded personnel negotiations and is cutting 160 jobs. Personnel negotiations began in Finland onĀ 19 December 2008 and the aim was to cut some 70 jobs. The reductions form part of the measures currently undertaken in order to adjust the organisation and business activities to changes in the market situation.

L&T's adjustment strategy comprises both immediate and long-term measures, the latter including structural changes. The focal point of the adjustments is the reduction of fixed costs. Therefore, the reduction concerns white-collar employees in a higher proportion than manual staff. The staff adjustments will be implemented in their entirety during 2009 and affect all operations in Finland. Altogether, L&T employs some 7,300 people in Finland.

Employees affected by the reduction are being supported by L&T in various ways. New tasks within the company are actively being sought for persons concerned. Additional support is being provided in the form of relocations and job-seeking training.
