Description

Merlin Gerin, which manufactures electric circuit breakers at three sites in France, is to cut 350 employees from 450 by 2010. Merlin Gerin is a subisdiary of Schneider Electric, and its sites are located at Ales, Barantin, and Chalon-sur-Soane. 107 redundancies will be in the town of Ales.

The redundancies are part of a restructuring plan affecting products and range. According to Eric Roux, the union representative, production will be moved to Bulgaria. The assembly process will be moved there, while the French sites will retain the preparation and completion phases.
