Description

Emilceramica, an Italian industrial group operating in ceramic sector, is to cut 116 jobs at its plant located at Solignano di Castelvetro, in the province of Modena. Moreover, the company has announced the recourse for one year to the 'ordinary' Wages Guarantee Fund (CIG) - a 'social shock absorber' that provides income support in situations of reversible corporate crisis - for 512 workers employed in its sites located at Fiorano (Modena). The group has around 800 employees in its sites located in province of Modena.

According to the company, the workforce's reduction and the recourse to the CIG scheme are mainly due to the recent economic and financial crisis. The trade unions reacted to the company's decision by going out on strike and blockading the factories' gates.
