Calsonic Kansei, a manufacturer of car parts, has announced that it is to cut 175 jobs at its factories on Wearside. 93 jobs will be lost at Sunderland and a further 82 jobs will be lost at Washington. The company has been affected by the reduction in demand for cars. As of 15 February 2009 it is not known when these jobs will be cut, or how many jobs will remain at each site.
