Sphinx, a tiling company, announced on the 14 January 2009, that it will cut 110 jobs at its plant in Maastricht, in the Netherlands. The production of tiles will be relocated to France, cutting 110 jobs from 128 in Maastricht. The company was declared bankrupt in November 2008, but then it seemed that recovery was possible. In the end, production costs in the Netherlands were deemed to high, and with existing sufficient production capacity in France, Sphinx will retain only its sales office in Maatricht.
