Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sturbucks Corporation, US-based international coffeehouse chain, has announced that it is to cut 6,700 jobs worldwide (out of approximately 176,000) with the closure of 300 stores, including 200 in the United States. Starbucks plans to eliminate about 6,000 store jobs and 700 corporate jobs, including about 350 at its corporate headquarters in Seattle. The job losses are attributed to a massive decline in Starbucks' sales in recent quarters.
