Description

Beer producing company Svyturys-Utenos alus intends to dismiss 64 employees in Klaipeda by the end of March 2009. At present the company employs 628 people. The internal restructuring was necessitated by Danish beer producer Carlsberg. At the moment Carlsberg Breweries controls Svyturys-Utenos alus through the holding company Carlsberg Baltic. The main causes of the dismissals are decreased sales due to increased excise tax on beer and cider in Lithuania.
