Description
State-owned company Bus Éireann, which is part of the CIE public transport company, has announced 320 redundancies among its 2,700 workforce, and a reduction in its bus fleet of 150. The national bus company said the measures were necessary to restore its finances to break-even level by the end of 2010 due to what it described as 'a very challenging economic environment'. In addition, the internal restructuring plan incorporates a wage freeze up to the end of 2009 as well deferring payment of the terms of the Towards 2016 national wage agreement.
