The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
MFI, a retailer of furniture and other household goods, has announced the closure of its 111 stores across the UK with the loss of 1,400 jobs. The company went into administration in November due to falling demand. The job cuts were announced after the administrators failed to find buyers for the business. The losses have already been implemented but as of 19 December 2008 there is no information on whether they took the form of direct dismissals and/or voluntary redundancies.
