Description

Pigna, one of the most important Italian paper mills, is to close the paper mill division located at Alzano Lombardo (in the province of Bergamo), with the consequent loss of 133 jobs. The company envisages the closure by the end of January 2009.

According to the company, the production of paper in Italy is no more competitive in terms of costs.

The company and the trade unions have planned meetings in order to find adequate measures to reduce the negative social effects that will affect the redundant workers. In Italy, the Pigna group has around 650 employees.
