The ASML, a world leader in the manufacture of advanced technology systems for the semiconductor industry, is to cut 1,000 jobs. ASML's corporate headquarters is in Veldhoven (the Netherlands). It has 6,500 employees worldwide. "Never before have we witnessed such a sharp and sudden falloff in [..] demand," said chief executive officer Eric Meurice.
