Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (Ntv), the new company that will offer passenger services on high-speed train lines from 2011, is to create around 1,000 new jobs in the period 2009-2011. The first 50 apprentice engine drivers will begin a training course in April 2009 (25 participants) and July 2009 (25 participants). In 2010, the Ntv has planned to hire around 615 people in the passenger assistance area, around 70 people in technical areas and other engine drivers. In 2011, the company envisages to begin its business activity with around 1,000 employees with open-ended contracts.

NTV was founded in December 2006 by the entrepreneurs Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Diego Della Valle, Gianni Punzo and Giuseppe Sciarrone, who were joined in June 2008 by the Intesa-Sanpaolo bank, Generali Financial Holdings FCP-FIS, Alberto Bombassei and SNCF. From 2011, the Ntv will offer passenger services on high-speed lines.
