European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Bekaert is to close one of its Belgian plants, located in Hemiksem, Antwerp. 264 workers are currently employed on the site manufacturing steel tubes for industries. Bekaert currently faces competition from manufacturers located in Asia and Eastern Europe and the closure of Hemiksem will allow the concentration of the steel tubes production in a single plant.
