Description
Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the government department responsible for tax collection, is to cut 3,400 jobs and close 90 offices across the UK. The decision is part of a wider efficiency programme following the merger of the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise, and it is not known how many people will remain in the organisation when this restructuring is complete. As of 7 December 2008 it has not been announced when these job cuts will occur.
