Description

The Chemical group Arkema has announced that it plans to close loss-making activities in France:

  • aluminium chloride production and
  • vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer production at its Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban site in the South of France (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence).

The group said that between 96 and 169 jobs will be lost at Saint-Auban in 2009.

The group also announced a reorganisation of its procurement division, planned for 2009-2010 with the aim of saving 35 millions euros annually.

Arkema was spun off from Total in 2006 and so now exists as a separate entity.
