Description
Firkins Bakery, a baker based in the West Midlands, has announced that it has gone into administration with the loss of 140 jobs. The company, which is based in West Bromwich, will close 21 shops immediately. However, the managing director, Ian Bolderston, has announced that he has bought 30 shops from the administrator and will form a new company named Firkin Foods, which will save around 200 jobs. The company blamed the closure on rising supplier prices and the economic downturn.
