Description

Index.hu reported that Philips Hungary Kft. has discontinued its contract with around 400 temporary agency workers (TAWs) in its Székesfehérvár plant, in Fejér county. Philips Hungary Kft. was established in 1992 as a greenfield enterprise and since then has been manufacturing audio and multimedia devices. On top of its 1,500 employees countrywide, the company is employing temporary agency workers when seasonal changes in orders make it necessary. Communication director, Péter Blazsevácz explained, that a cut in the number of TAWs would have been necessary anyhow but as a result of the global economic crisis a larger number of TAWs had to be dismissed. He confirmed that the company is not planning to reduce its own workforce.
