Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dynapac, which manufactures asphalt rollers and pavers, has given a redundancy notice to 215 employees in Karlkrona in southern Sweden. 165 of the employees are blue-collar and the rest are white-collar. Negotiations with the trade unions have been initiated and Dynapac expects the redundant workers to leave the company within 6 months, by 19 May 2009, according to Swedish employment law. Dynapac is a leading global full line supplier of paving equipment, headquartered in Sweden and with production facilities in Sweden, Germany, France, Brazil, USA, China and India. Dynapac’s products are sold in more than 115 countries all over the world.
