European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Thrace, a meat processing company in Ferres (Evros), is to close with the loss of 136 jobs by April 2009. On 6th November 2008, a delegation of employees met the General Secretaries of the Ministries of Finance and Employment in order to be given reassurances about the future of the company. Employees hope that a new investor will be found so that the company will continue to operate. However, according to the President of the local 'Labour Centre' in Alexandroupoli, 38 employees have already lost their jobs.
Thrace is a company operating in the production, processing, and distribution of meat and cooked pork meat.
