Description
Coop Sverige, which operated chain stores, is to lay off 1000 employees in Sweden from various business areas in the company. The job cuts are a result of a savings plan and it is planned to carry them out in 2009.
Coop Sverige operates shops in chains like Coop Forum, Coop Extra, Coop Konsum, Coop Nära, and Coop Bygg. Together with the retail consumer cooperative societies, Coop Sverige accounts for 21.4% of the entire Swedish FMCG sector. Coop Sverige is wholly owned by KF.
