Description
Finnish paper manufacturer UPM Kymmene has announced that the group is planning to close several production lines for self-adhesive products and to reduce its cutting capacity in France, Germany, Finland, Hungary and the UK. The group wants to restructure its business with labels in order to ensure it remains profitable in the weaker economic climate.
It is estimated that the plans will affect around 340 employees, about 100 of whom will be in France. The group wants to reduce its annual operating costs by approximately 25 millions euros. The factory in Pompey in the Meurthe-et-Moselle region will not be closed, as trade unions had feared, although a surface application line at the site will be shut down.
