Description

Svenska Fönster , one of the biggest window factories in Europe, will cut 180 jobs .The notices are due to declining production figures and downsizing in the construction industry, upon which Svenska Fönster’s production depends. First notice was published in September and concerned the office and production site in Edsbyn. 85 employees will have to leave the site from March to July 2009. The company had to downsize their production even more in November, following the difficult financial situation in the world. The rest of the notices were placed at the site in Ljungby, where 95 employees will be affected. The job reductions in Ljungby are planned to start in January and be carried out by April 2009. Hence, the total time period of the job reductions are from January to July.

Svenska Fönster is a manufacturer of windows. From the production facility in Edsbyn, they market and sell their products under three brand names, SP Fönster, Traryd Fönster and Mockfjärds Fönster. Svenska Fönster Produktion is the company within Svenska Fön-ster that manufactures windows and French windows for the SP Fönster, Traryd Fönster and Mockfjärds Fönster brand names. Today, the factory is one of the biggest window factories in Europe.
