Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 13 November 2008, the second largest TV group in Europe Pro Sieben Sat.1 Media announced to cut 225 jobs. The job cuts are part of a restructuring programme affecting all employees at the group's four free TV channels Pro Sieben, Sat.1, Kabel eins and N 24 as well as at the company’s sales and administration units. Apart from the job cuts, 350 Sat. 1 employees are to move from their current workplaces in Berlin to Munich. The media group plans on placing all operations of its TV channels Pro Sieben, Sat. 1 and Kabel in a single building by June 2009. The restructuring programme is to generate annual cost savings of EUR 100 million. The company employs around 3000 staff in Germany.
