Description
The car manufacturer Nissan announced on July 28th that they have submitted notice of their intention to dismiss 698 workers in their unit in Zona Franca Barcelona. The company cites falling sales and high labour costs amongst the reasons for the job losses. Nissan have announced also that in case this restructuring is not possible, they will not be able to maintain the plant beyond 2012 and envisage total closure.
