Description

Mazzucconi, a foundry operating mainly for car makers, is to close its plant located at Ponte San Pietro, in the province of Bergamo, with the consequent loss of 140 jobs. The company, which has announced the closure on 10 November 2008, has attributed the closure to the economic crisis that is mainly affecting the automotive sector.

The company and the trade unions have planned some meetings for the next days in order to find adequate measures for the redundant workers, such as the recourse to the “extraordinary” Wages Guarantee Fund, economic incentives to support their incomes during spells of unemployment, with a view to find a new job, and initiatives for outplacement and redeployment.
