Reebok, a multi-national manufacturer of sports equipment, has announced that it is to close its site in Morecambe in Lancashire with the loss of 140 jobs. The site will close on 31 December 2008. Staff have been provided with redundancy notices, but have also been offered jobs at a site that the firm operates in Manchester. As of October 2008, it is unclear how many staff will move to the Manchester site. Reebok employs 9,100 internationally and is a subsidiary of the German Adidas group.
