European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The pharmaceutical manufacturer Janssen Pharmaceutica owns several sites in Belgium. The management announced its intention to cut an overall 154 jobs on those sites. However, no direct dismissals are foreseen and the employees would be reemployed in other units within the company. This internal restructuring was necessary because of the increasing competitive conditions of the market.
