Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Aviva, a company that offers insurance, has announced that it is to cut 125 jobs from its UK workforce. The majority of the job cuts will occur at the company’s Norwich offices, although a smaller number of jobs will also be lost at offices in York, Sheffield and Stevenage. The company stated that it was cutting the jobs in order to increase efficiency. As of 26 October 2008, it has not been announced when people will leave these jobs.
