Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Engineering.it, a global player in the Information Technology services sector, is to cut 236 jobs. After the acquisition of the Atos Origin (an IT company), Engineering.it has announced a reorganisation plan that envisages the loss of 236 jobs: 52 at the Pont-St-Martin (Val d’Aosta), 55 at the Assago plant (Lombardy), 12 at Pozzuoli plant (Campania); 66 at the Roma plant (Lazio) and 51 at the Torino plant (Piedmont).
The procedures of collective dismissals should start at the beginning of November 2008.
The trade unions reacted to the company’s decision by announcing several industrial actions.
