Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Qimonda, an affiliate of German Infineon and a global memory supplier, plans to cut 3,000 out of 12,200 jobs in Germany and the USA. As of October 2008, there is no information on when the job losses will be implemented by. The job cuts are part of a large restructuring aimed at reducing the global workforce of 12,200 by 25% to compensate for severe financial losses. 1,500 jobs will be cut in Germany and some 1,500 in the US. Qimonda is one of the largest global producer of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) for a wide variety of applications.
