European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Snaige, the manufacturer of refrigerators intends to dismiss 300 employees in Alytus by the end of 2008. The main cause of internal restructuring was a slowing down of the sales. According to the administration, dismissal of employees is the only way to keep the company running. The company will offer some help to the dismissed employees – special consultations from local labour exchanges and training centres will be provided.
The Lithuanian authorities applied for aid from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) and it is currently being implemented.
