Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Energia Futura – a manufacturer of devices that collect energy from alternative energy sources - will take over the Scandicci Electrolux plant and will recruit 370 (out of 450) workers previously employed by Electrolux. On 11 September 2008, Electrolux, Energia Futura and the trade unions reached an agreement on the re-industrialisation of the industrial site located in Scandicci. At Scandicci, the Energia Futura will build solar panels. The 370 workers should be recruited by the end of 2009. Energia Futura promotes the recourse to the alternative energy sources. It develops and produces devices collecting energy from solar, wind, biomass and water power. The company is controlled by the Mercatech Small-Cap Equity Fund.
