Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Spanish metallo-mechanics robotics and foundry company Afenisa, announced that it will be opening a production’s unit of components in Abrantes with a total of 250 jobs created by 2009, mainly as regional labour force. The town’s councilor of Abrantes responsible for the economic development of the town, informed that the municipality offered an area of 330 square meters at a lower price in order to motivate investment in the area. The municipality considers the value of the sale as symbolic, considering the scale of this project.
