Description
About 120 staff employed by Westlink Bridge Ltd at the M50 West-Link toll bridge have lost their jobs due to the fact that a barrier-free system came into operation on Saturday, August 30. The 120 staff say they have reluctantly accepted a compensation package from parent company National Toll Roads (NTR). The redundancy package is high, amounting to 10 weeks pay for each year of service. The plans for barrier free tolling were drawn up after the Irish Government bought the toll bridge from the National Roads Authority in 2007.
