Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ferrero, an Italian manufacturer of chocolate and other confectionery products, is to create 900 new jobs by the end of August 2008 at its industrial site located at Alba, in the province of Cuneo.
The workers will be hired with fixed-term contracts of the duration of 4-5 months average. Yearly, in August, September and October Ferrero has recourse to temporary employment in order to increase its production of chocolate products. Ferrero has around 3,000 workers employed in the Alba industrial site; in Italy, it has 4 factories and around 6,200 employees.
Ferrero is one of the largest confectionery companies in the world. The company is owned by the Ferrero family. It has 36 operating companies, 15 factories and about 19,600 employees worldwide.
