Description

Multinational medical devices company, Boston Scientific, has announced that it is to close its Tullamore plant in the Irish midlands with the loss of 240 jobs. The American owned company employs approximately 5,000 people across Ireland. The Tullamore plant is to close after Avista Capital Partners acquired its fluid management business earlier in 2008. Avista has decided to transfer the manufacture of products to its plant in New York. Remaining products currently being manufactured in the Tullamore plant are to be made at a plant in Cork by 2009.
