Description
Alfatex Móda, a Czech knitwear producer, is to close its plant in Pelhřimov with the loss of 178 jobs by the end of September 2008. The closure is attributed to the strong Czech currency and the decline of the textile industry in the Czech Republic. About 3,000 jobs have been cut in the textile sector since July 2007. Employment rate in this sector fell by 6.6 percent during a one year period.
