The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Spanair, local affiliate of Swedish group SAS, has announced a workforce reduction plan. 1100 employees will lose their jobs: 120 pilots, 220 stewards, 180 handling employees, 120 in maintenance, 270 office employees and 150 airport customer service staff. The CEO of Spanair, Marcus Hedblom, said that the company's headquarters will stay in Palma and explained that the airline has launched a viability plan involving dismissals and fleet reduction.
