Description

The Milicz Work Cooperative, Poland's oldest producer of Christmas tree

decorations, has announced its bankruptcy and the loss of 100 jobs. Competition of cheaper products from China and the weak dollar are reasons evoked for the decision. Milicz Christmas tree decorations were once exported to the United States, Canada, Holland, Australia, and New Zealand, among other countries. In the late 1990s, the cooperative had a workforce of over 300 persons; this has since been reduced to approximately 100 workers, all of whom will now lose their job.
